Change Your Physical State a. Tony Robbins example b. It is impossible to feel bad when your physical state says otherwise c. Anchor with physical response d. Laugh 2. Change Your Environment a. Get out of your usual environment b. Change the way you do things (drive a different way to work, change up your schedule c. You gain more control when you take control of your environment 3. Work on your relationships 4. Do Something New a. Learn a new skill b. Put yourself in uncomfortable situations c. Billy Cox, Jimi Hendrix’s bass guitarist, once said, “Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than you are to your comfort zone.” d. Try new foods e. Listen to different music 5. Don’t Let Challenges Derail You a. Deepak Chopra (author), “All great changes are preceded by chaos.” b. Most people don’t change unless they are forced to c. Clients show up at my office at times of crisis 6. Avoid Toxic People a. Family, friends, co-workers that are negative and toxic will make you negative and toxic. b. Associate with people you want to be like 7. Pursue Passion a. What do you love to do? Why don’t you do it more? b. Consider turning your passion into your career c. My dad went into nursing at age 56. 8. Forgo Perfectionism a. Realize that perfection does not exist b. Don’t let the fear of not being perfect prevent you from taking on challenges or doing something new c. Give yourself a break and realize that doing your best is the best that you can do! 9. Implement the 5 minute rule a. Something you may dread doing (like working out), just commit to 5 minutes. b. Once you start, most of the time you will exceed your 5 minute goal c. Most people don’t follow through because the time commitment prevents them from taking action 10. Be A Mentor a. Teach someone something you love to do b. Identify with other people’s passions c.
